Obedience Training & Behavior Modification:
Basic obedience training is more than sit and stay. Manners are important, but a beginner
dog obedience class can help your pup learn about interacting with other dogs and people in addition
to the many lessons on good behavior. A class maximum of five dogs and owner pairs is what I recommend.
Group classes are not ideal until 3 "One-on-One" training sessions have been completed in
order to keep your dog focused, and ensure you're getting any necessary one on one attention you may need
from your trainer.
Group Class Enrollment Benefits:
Learn to listen while surrounded by distractions
Socializing with other dogs and people
Hone owner-training know how
Consistency is Key
Being consistent during training is imperative. If you are constantly changing training setting,
conditions of reward, or consequence of failure while training it becomes harder for your dog
to understand exactly what is expected of them.
Using treats for 'Beginner Training'
Your dog needs an incentive to pay very close attention during training (just like a toddler), and treats are
one of the best ways to ensure your dog remains focused during training sessions. It's important to also include
immediate positive verbal praise when your dog executes a command.
Not just SIT, STAY, FETCH!
Training is an important part of any dogs life and should be continued even after professional training,
in order to get the best results. It is important for several reasons. It provides mental stimulation
which helps to keep your dog happy and balanced, and if combined with morning exercise your dog will be mentally
and physically tired and less likely to start any mischief such as chewing up your furniture and such.
Obedience training is an excellent step in your relationship with your dog. Whether you have a new dog or a
dog who could use a brush-up on manners, dog obedience training is a great way to build and maintain the
foundation of skills that will benefit both of you in the long run. Additionally, training will make your
bond stronger and bad habits will be less likley occuring. Also your dog has a chance to learn and exercise his mind,
brain and body.

Taining combined with excercise helps to mentally and physically
tire your dog for less mischief. Obedience training is the foundation
building block for a healthy relationship between you and your dog.
Training also provides one-on-one time for you and your dog.
